This is … The Voice!!!

This new NBC talent show premiered last April 26, 2011. Seeing the previews on facebook and youtube, I felt the excitement on watching it.  The whole concept of the show, the amazing set of coaches, plus the downfall of American idol, I thought that The Voice will be my new favorite Singing show.

The show's coaches includes (from Right to Left, maiba lang): Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Cee Lo Green)

Hosted by Carson Daly, the show started with a couple of selected ‘artists’ going through their “Blind Audition”, wherein they will sing while the coaches’ chairs are turned back at them, and they must do their to make them turn around and beg for them to join their team.  Even though there were only few great talents during the blind audition episodes, it was still fun!! I really enjoyed the exchanges of words between the judges, esp adam and christina.

Then next is the “Battle Round”, where each coach match up their 8 artists, until they’re down to their 4 artists for the Quarter-finals.  The coaches were able to picked the best among the best, I must say. I enjoyed the quarter finals were my favorite artists did  great performances.  Really love Javier Colon’s Fix You, Vicci Martinez’ Dog Days are Over, and of course, Dia Frampton’s Losing My Religion!!!

Now, they already named the semi-finalists.  I know it was so quick, but it doesn’t matter to me.  I enjoyed it, and I’ll be craving for more.  I’m excited to see the battle between javier, Dia, Vicci, and Beverly.

I’m rooting for Dia Frampton, I really, really hope that she will win this competition.  Here are some of her performances on the show:

 

End of Season

Almost all of the TV shows that I’ve been following has finally ended their current season this year. I’m happy that I’ve finished them all, but now I suddenly missed downloading the episodes and watching them every weekend.

THE AMAZING RACE

The 18th season of TAR, Unfinished Business, ended its race wherein Sisters Kesha and Jen emerged as the winner of 1 million dollar prize.  I’m ok with the result… but I’ll be happier if Dad-Daughter Gary&Mallory won the race.  The finale was not that exciting since it was very obvious that K&J were really ahead of the other 2 teams.  Anyway, it was a good race. A memorable one.

SURVIVOR

Rob Mariano is the Sole Survivor of Survivor 22.  I think he really played it well this time, plus the other contestants were pretty lazy and dumb. It will be also great if Matt won the final Redemption Battle, and stayed all the way to the finals.  For sure, he will win that title.  This season is definitely memorable because of Phillip. What a character!!!

GLEE

Yeah, the second season of this hit musical show is also over.  This season has also its ups and downs.  I havent seen the finale but I heard our very own Charice has an appearance and solo performance again! My favorite new character for this season though is Miss Holly Holiday!!! Gwyneth is definitely good, I love her character, and I love her versions of Fuck You and Turning Tables.

HELLCATS

I already downloaded the last two episodes of this show.. not just for this season, but definitely the last 2 episodes!!!! Waaaah. My friend told me that the show was cancelled and it won’t have its next season… that sucks

Lauren Alaina – “Any Man Of Mine” by Shania Twain – I actually love watching her… but I think she’s still not that good in choosing the right song. But she’s on my top 3 girls.

Casey Abrams – “With A Little Help From My Friends” by Joe Cocker – I’m still a little in between liking and getting annoyed with this guy. But don’t get me wrong. He’s good. So good. and so unqiue.

Ashthon Jones – “When You Tell Me That You Love Me” by Diana Ross – The problem with her is that she’s so common, boring, not exciting at all.  She deserve to leave the competition.

Paul McDonald – “Come Pick Me Up” by Ryan Adams – another unique voice here.. but seriously, his moves is so annoying na… not a fan!

Pia Toscano – “All By Myself” by Celine Dion – As early as now, I’m predicting that she’ll win this competition.  She’s sooo freakin good.. her high notes and voice control is just so effin perfect.

James Durbin – “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney – Less annoying than Adam Lambert.. but Adam is much better.

Haley Reinhart – “Blue” by LeAnn Rimes – I like her voice, but her song choices are terrible… she should really be careful next time.

Jacob Lusk – “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly – One of my faves from the guys… He’s so good and a lil bit funny when he sings hehe

Thia Megia – “Smile” by Michael Jackson – The judges are right.. her phrasing is really something… And the intro is way much better than the jazz part.

Stefano Langone – “Lately” by Stevie Wonder – The best performance of the night!!! That’s all I can say

Karen Rodriguez – “I Could Fall In Love” by Selena – Not that much of a fan… i find her boring..

Scotty McCreery – “The River” by Garth Brooks – he can sing.. yun lang.. sorry, so fed up with his country songs.

Naima Adedapo – “Umbrella” by Rihanna -what a way to end the show.. love her performance.. though it’s really pitchy

TOP 12 PERFORMANCES

Naima Adedapo – “What’s Love Got To Do With It” by Tina Turner – not a fan of this perf.. really pitchy, and she’s a lil bit all over the place. BTW, bravo to J.LO for her comment.

Paul McDonald – “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues” by Elton John – I’m beginning to notice that his performances are all the same. blah.

Thia Megia – “Colors Of The Wind” by Vanessa Williams – it was not bad.. I really think she’ll go far in this competition, as far as Jasmine Trias.. me thinks.

James Durbin – “I’ll Be There For You” by Bon Jovi – I like this performance.. the high pitch scream is well controlled, not over done. great.

Haley Reinhart – “I’m Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Houston – seriously.. another bad song choice… every week talaga?.. She should really pick something ballad.. that will focus or emphasize her unique voice.

Stefano Langone – “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” by Simply Red – another HOT performance from him!!! I’m a fan! But yeah, he should open his eyes more.

Pia Toscano – “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” by Whitney Houston – REMIX! love it
Scotty McCreery – “Can I Trust You With My Heart” by Travis Tritt – ok.. country again..

Karen Rodriguez – “Love Will Lead You Back” by Taylor Dayne – Kyla’s version is much better. Haha!

Casey Abrams – “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana – One of my faves this week!! Though the ending was bad.

Crying Russell

After losing the redemption duel against Matt, the notorious survivor player, Russell Hantz, cried under his hat.

In fairness, naawa ako kay Russell.  It is the very first time na matanggal sya sa laro.  And I must admit, Survivor will never be exciting without Russell.

Top 12 Guys and Top 12 Girls

Brett Loewenstern (Light My Fire) – I actually hate watching him.. he’s not that good at all.

Jovanny Baretto (I’ll Be) – I hate his song. haha. So-so lang yung boses nya..

Clint Jun Gamboa (Superstition) – He’s good, but no appeal at all. Kulang sa charm.. yup, that’s one of the requirements.

James Durbin (You’ve Got Another Thing Coming) – Yes, he can definitely hit that high note, in an adam lambert way. I dunno if i will like it or not.

Jacob Lusk (A House Is Not A Home) – My fave performance of the night. I love the way he control his voice.

Jordan Dorsey (OMG) – Ang tawag sa ginawa nya? Suicide.

Casey Abrams (I Put A Spell On Yo) – I also like his rough, raspy voice… but not yet a fan..

Tim Halperin (Sweet Corner Serenade) – He’s one of my favorite… but he chose the wrong song.. sayang!!

Stefano Langone (Just The Way You Are) – He started really bad.. pero nakabawi naman.. but his version of JTWYA is not that amazing.. there’s something wrong eh.. at least for me.

Paul McDonald (Maggie May) – His voice is unique.. and also his moves!! (but i dont like the moves, ok?)…

Robbie Rosen (Angel) – Hindi nagwork yung pagkulot-kulot ng voice.. his voice is ok naman.. wrong song choice again, i must say.

Scotty McCreery (Letters From Home) – He’s too much country.. not a fan!

Ashthon Jones (Love All Over Me) - She’s ok too.. and the attitude, i like it.

Kendra Chantelle (Impossible) – I didn’t like her version of this christina aguilera song.. sobrang tinis ng voice nya.

Haley Reinhart (Fallin’) – Karylle?? lol.. seriously, i dont like her… ang labo ng lyrics nya… kinakain yung letra.

Naima Adedapo (Summertime) – I looove her voice.. parang Megan Joy Corkey yung dating nya sakin. Like her!

Ta-Tynisa Wilson (Only Girl In The World) – She’s the Jordan Dorsey of the girls.. nagsuicide sa song choice.

Karen Rodriguez (Hero) – nothing special on her performance.. marunong lang syang magspanish.. yun lang!

American Idol 10 Top 24

The top 24 of American Idol 10 was finally revealed last week.  The elimination is full of drama, especially Jennifer’s breaking down moment after delivering the bad news to Chris Medina (who is just ok to be not included in top24, that’s what i think).

Am I happy with the result? Hmmm.. yeah.. except the fact that James-Adam Lambert-ish  was included in the group, and some of the good ones were eliminated.

Last season is definitely an upset for me, but this year, despite the fact that there’s no Simon Cowell on the show, I believe that this will be an interesting season.

For now, I’m rooting for Tim Halperin, Thia Megia, Julie Zorilla, and Robbie Rosen.

Let’s see how far they’ll go!

Second episode na ng Survivor 22.  So far, I’m lovin it.

I super, duper hate Phillip.. he’s so annoying, and I really want him to eliminated as soon as possible..

Zapatera tribe is really interesting.. the fact that Russell is there.  And I hope Ralph will win over Russell.. it’s like the good vs Evil!
